Starfield. Its boring as fuk, and that’s what you want. Nice quiet life. With spaceships.
Stardew Valley. Theres some fucked up shit beneath the surface, but you can financially support yourself just from taking nature walks. thats all i want.
Animal Crossing for me.
I would have said Adventure Time but someone else got there first. I’m only about a third in but maybe Persona (5)? For the music alone 🎶
Star Trek
As someone with some profound ADHD that has affected my career, I have to say, I would be fucking amazing in the Star Trek universe. For someone with an interest-based focus ability, a society where the standard of social merit is, “do cool shit you’re passionate about,” would be Heaven. I can do things. I can do amazing things. When I’m passionate about something, I can move mountains. But stick me in a cubicle and ask me to do the same grind day in, day out? I really struggle. Some people say they would just disappear forever into the Holodeck. But for me, the coolest thing about the Star Trek universe is that regular people can simply do whatever they’re most passionate about, without concern for monetary profit.
Can’t imagine what specific passion you might have. Unforeseeable, that.
Easy. A post-scarcity world sounds amazing. Never have to really worry about the necessities, just explore whatever art or joy you have.
Sure, you can live in the Star Trek universe. In 2026.
Enjoy the impending Eugenics Wars and Post-Atomic Horror.
Haha I was gonna reply with something similar. If you choose the Star Trek universe, then you’d better get awfully specific about when, where, and who you are.
We’re getting close to the Bell riots.
The Bell Riots were supposed to have happened two years ago.
Yeah the timeline is a little messed up. Pretty sure it just got delayed
Instead of sanctuary districts for dims we’ve got concentration camps for immigrants.
It’s a cliche at this point, but I think that means we’re in the mirror universe.
Star trek but in 1417.

Okay B
Idiocracy, at least Kamacho is kompetent
An alternate universe where the shooter didn’t miss.
Star Trek.
TNG era Star Trek; not modern Trek.
This is the one. A post scarcity society where you can do just about anything you want as long as you have a certain minimum proficiency. Plus, almost all the life threatening shenanigans happen way out in space far enough away it’s just part of the background news.
Discworld.
The one where common sense is actually common.
Tron, throw me in the computer.
Culture. No question.
Wouldn’t mind a lift, if the good ship Arbitrary is listening.
I’m coming with you.
same
Always my first thought when I see this question
Very few of them, which annoys me. 90% of fictional universes are dystopian, on the edge of collapse, and only savable by a smaller group.
The Trails games kind of stood out for having a world that’s usually on pace, and isn’t even aware of whatever sinister plot your detectives/adventurers are looking into.
For a second I thought you said the ‘Trials’ games. I guess living in a world of cartoonish side scrolling motocross wouldn’t be so bad
Not even Trials is safe from dystopian sci-fi. The series has some gnarly entries lol
The culture series by Ian Banks.
This or Star Trek are the only serious answers.
IMO I would be surprised if anyone who has read the Culture series doesn’t say the Culture. That’s where I’ll be.
Like, oldfangled Trek though, where everyone is highly educated and extremely competent and people turn the lights on more often than not.
1000%. Functionally unlimited lifespan in which to explore the universe, in a super-intelligent ship that contains the sum of civilizational knowledge? Hell yeah, sign me up!
This is what I was going to say!
Seconded.
