  • My experience: its scourge and a scam.

If you live somewhere with less than millions of people, pool of viable matches is likely so small there is just no point. And if you dont want to pay money, its even more waste of your time.

I doubt its much better for females either, though they likely have opposite problem; have to pick the right one out of sea of shit and hope they dont accidentally choose someone who they really dont want to choose.

All in all, dating apps just damage natural partner finding system and should be banned.

For me, i really lucked out and found someone without having to use one. I did try several application for some time and its just like drinking saltwater when you need water. Definitely not worth using any of them, you just waste your time and might delude yourself that you might find someone by using them when you should instead try other things, thus actively preventing yourself from finding anyone.

  • games imo, but only if you are properly creative with what you do, otherwise you end up with comedy at best. Watched a streamer play some horror game with friend where if you make too much noise at microphone, you die. Biggest difficulty they had was they kept laughing too much at everything. At the end streamer also commented about the design of the game and how it would have been better if there had been for example, monsters that react to your sound differently; maybe some have to be yelled at to stay away or some are attracted to sound or whatever. But instead the game was just “if sound exceeds certain treshold you die and thats it”.

With games you can do so much more than any other media, since its possible for you to “be there” and have more at stake than just reading or watching things happen to someone else. But you have to be creative about the game and cant be lazy on the gameplay design, otherwise might as well just not bother and do some other genre.

  • well, its not directly a question. more of an invitation for discussion about the topic since i wanted to hear what everyone here thinks about it.

The thing i’m worried is the embrace & extinguish strategy the corporations like microsoft use. So far there has been little reason for them to care, since linux has been so marginal operating system, but I think there is good chance linux might become really popular. Win11 is such a mess and combined with really expensive ram, it might not even be useable for many, so only other option is to either use apple or linux

  • there should be somekind of limit to how fast you can post to deter that, like only one post per random number of seconds. And each post posted would add even more random seconds on top of that for like 30min, that would make it really annoying to code automation for the mass posting while real users likely wouldnt even know its happening.

Or at least there should be something unpredictable that limits how fast you can do things.
