    Denmark doesn’t have the ability to stop the US militarily from annexing Greenland, but the UN could not recognize it as belonging to the US and condemn it as an invasion.

      I mean the UN doing something doesn’t really matter. The UN sending a strongly worded letter is a meme for a reason.

      What does matter is that an invasion of Greenland would trigger NATO.

        NATO would not be able to stop the US militarily since Greenland is near the US. However. it would be the end of NATO, something which Trump doesn’t really care about.

          You mean they couldn’t physically or legally? Because they probably won’t be able to physically prevent the first shovel from breaking ground due to the relative locations of NATO members, Greenland, and the US (though maybe Canada), but they could come to Greenland and legally force the drilling company to leave before there’s much of an impact (assuming the oil company didn’t come with mercenaries).
