So the US, Israel, and Germany have been directly involved in this conflict thus far.

Russia is currently in a war with Ukraine as we know, and has announced their support of Iran. North Korea has been sending troops to this conflict. US and much of western Europe is already involved in some way.

China has been reported sending some kind of undisclosed aid to Iran already.

Currently unrelated but Pakistan and India just had a border skirmish. Pakistan does border Iran.

There’s a lot of instability and World Wars worth of countries involved already. It truly wouldn’t take much to start connecting some of these conflicts. If that happens it gets much bigger

I feel like you’re reading a lot into this and start with a false premise. Both war and WW3 can be bad, WW3 is just more memeable

I loved hearing NPR this morning talking to a person living in Iran and a person living in Israel trying to make it sound like the war is impacting them both equally. While absolutely ignoring that Israel started this war.

They were using language that would make you think this war is a naturally occurring weather event. Something that just happens, instead of an act of aggression from Israel.

Honestly as an American, when I visited Germany I bought a deutschland ticket and used regional transit to travel most of the country. I used the DB navigator app.

It was hands down the best travel of my life. Just hop on a train and go anywhere. The delays were usually well recorded in the app and I could usually just reroute.

I was traveling for leisure though so waiting an extra 10 minutes was not a big deal, but all the city transit and local trains seemed to be mostly on time. Regional were the only ones I encountered with delays.

Then as I said we’re already cooked. But also that is demonstrably false anyway. Our judiciary is under heavy threat, but still functioning

Maybe it would be wise for an instance to incorporate as a non-profit of some kind. I believe a designation exists for “social clubs”.

That way there’s less pressure on admins and less worry of facing personal consequences if someone posts something illegal on their instance since then the LLC or local equivalent would be liable.

I doubt an instance would ever have the funds but it could even theoretically allow for a paid admin.

I know it sounds like we’re reinventing the “big” internet again, but i don’t see it being an issue. I don’t see a world where lemmy could generate that level of profit. In this case an LLC would be about gaining legal protections only
