  • This is literally ripped from me asking Gemini “how can a medical examiner tell if a person was blindfolded when they died” so I expect down votes since I’m being forthright about that and not just pawning it off as my own.

Tl;Dr: markings, particularly bruising, fiber or other material remnants, blood vessels in the eyes rupturing from the blindfold.

    Here’s what the ai said:

A medical examiner (forensic pathologist) can determine if a person was blindfolded at the time of death by looking for several types of evidence, primarily through a thorough external examination of the body and the scene investigation. Key indicators that might be present include:

    • Imprints or Markings on the Skin:
      • Bruising (Contusions): The force or pressure of a tight blindfold, especially if the person struggled, can leave distinct bruises on the skin around the eyes, across the bridge of the nose, and/or around the head.
      • Abrasions (Scrapes): Friction from the material moving against the skin, particularly near bony prominences like the orbital ridges or bridge of the nose, can cause scrapes.
      • Ligature Marks: A fold, crease, or indentation in the skin, often in the pattern of the blindfold material (e.g., a line for a strip of cloth, a crosshatch pattern for gauze), can be visible. These are similar to those seen from restraints or ligatures.
    • Trace Evidence:
      • Fibers or Residue: The material used for the blindfold (e.g., fabric fibers, tape residue) might be transferred to the skin, hair, or eyelashes of the deceased. These small pieces of evidence are collected and analyzed by forensic scientists.
    • Hemorrhages (Bleeding):
      • Petechiae: Small, pinpoint hemorrhages (broken blood vessels) in the conjunctiva (the lining of the eyelids and eye) or the skin of the eyelids can be caused by the pressure of a tight restraint around the head or neck area, which can obstruct venous return.
    • Scene Investigation:
      • The Blindfold Itself: The most direct evidence is the discovery of the blindfold still on the body or nearby. The medical examiner or crime scene investigators will document its position and material.
      • Associated Evidence: The location of the body, other restraints, and signs of a struggle can corroborate the use of a blindfold as part of a struggle, kidnapping, or execution. The findings from the external examination and the scene are crucial because they represent ante-mortem (occurring before death) or peri-mortem (occurring around the time of death) events. If the markings show signs of vital reaction (like bruising/bleeding), it confirms the person was blindfolded while still alive or in the process of dying.

  • So is a 4 day work week with 8 hours per working day.

I honestly think a lot of hours we spend working are spent “working.” I know my, and my colleagues, 40 hour weeks certainly are less than 40 hours but I also don’t get paid enough so I think it’s a fair trade off.

I do get my shit done though and work late if I have to so it isn’t like I’m screwing anyone.

Seriously though I think we need to accept that we just don’t need the standard to be 40 hours of labor as the expected time. We arrived at it artificially and can just as easily walk away from that and into a brighter future with less work and more time with our family and friends. I’m sure we would even see productivity gains as folks are happier and healthier.

Incidentally, the soda (gas-injected water plus syrup) is so cheap this [a real boy really named Peyton coming in and filling his bin for the fill-your-own-cup-special] would be better indulged and tolerated as a photo op and free advertising

What do you think this is? Edit: oh this is from a satirical account so by default not real, got it.

  • My initial Google search with Gemini says neither Sony nor their subsidiaries produce adult novelty vibrators.

However, I would be willing to bet money the same vibrating motors in their controllers are in a vibrator somewhere without knowing more details about how that tech is sourced. I could be wrong but I like to think somewhere someone is using the same vibrator to rub one out as the one in a PS5 controller.

  • Really interesting messaging in the banners. “Fight the boycott” … Hmm wonder what was being boycotted in 1939 America, let’s check the internet: Oh just the 1933 anti Nazi boycott.

I think the parallel between that boycott and the Russian sanctions is pretty interesting. Also the parallel between what happened with the annexation of The Sudetenland in the 1930s by Nazi Germany and what is happening with the Crimea region on the Ukraine/Russian border.

  • I didn’t say they were going to save the world, no more than the USA did or any nation state turned empire.

I do think China will eclipse America when it comes to being in a position of strong global leadership and the hegemonic power on the world stage. The USA seems to be shirking our duties, reshaping and destroying our society’s moral fabric, racing towards worse and worse education results and hellbent on making sure our healthcare is broken and our people are fat and dumb.

It’s not a winning recipe, even with a military that can dominate.

Every country has its problems and its demons, China is no different and certainly their problems are complex and grand. As far as greater or lesser evils - I’d put the USA and China about on par for all the fucked up stuff we have done the past hundred years and keep doing now.

I’d love to at least visit China sometime - honestly there’s so much fascinating history and getting to see a different approach to community building and infrastructure planning would be neat.

  • This is the dawn of the new Chinese century. I have no doubt in 20 more years China will be in an even stronger position as the USA continues to decline.

We, the USA, could do all the stuff that would make us competitive. That would require more socialism, more taxing of billionaires, more spending in green energy, education, transportation, healthcare becoming affordable and an actual human right for all in our borders, a real plan to transition off fossil fuels and shore up our domestic energy production and electric grid.

Idk more than that of course but that’s the elevator pitch.

We won’t do it though because corrupt capitalism and the oligarchy.

Maybe we will if at some point enough of us are struggling but we’re pretty fat and have plenty of entertainment to distract us even if we are being fucked. So … Yeah … Desperately hoping I’m wrong about most of my predictions, devastated as I keep seeing them come true.
