Given that Hamas is an elected government, it seems like a change in government should go through an elected process. Maybe Israel should withdraw and allow for the election of a new government since it appears that Hamas can’t really fight back.

Old Roman armies had about a 4:1 support to infantry ratio. Today’s military is thought to be up up at least 8:1.

Consumers are far more cost conscious than they say. A lot of consumers will go for a cheaper product rather than pay more for certain options.

It is the reason why most planes aren’t first class only. The majority of flyers would rather have a cheaper ticket than leg room.

But that may not be as viable today.

There are already several transit systems that have converted to cashless systems. There is also a push to some stores to cashless as well.

Cash may be a superior way for kids to handle money, but I can see some areas where having cash isn’t viable.

If I was a parent, I would want the wallet to act as a debit only system. However, I could see the utility in giving my kid a debit like system with $10 on it.

There are two ways to look at it.

1. You’re in shock and you haven’t started processing it yet. It is common for people to have delayed reactions to traumatic news.

2. Not all intimate relationships need to be monogamous and it sounds like you may be ok with that. It isn’t the typical reaction to infidelity, but it isn’t unheard of.

I wouldn’t interpret it as thought police since, outside of knowing if a murder is preplanned or not, they can’t identify the thoughts of the murderer.

This is more of a case where capitalism decays into fascism.

Capitalism relies on a decent legal framework to function. It doesn’t have to be equal, but it has to be consistent. It is usually why a lot of nations defined by capitalism are generally not dictatorships; monied interests are given ways to influence policy.

Fascism concentrates power and frees that power from restraint in order to benefit a part of society. The ability for a person to imprison anyone without legal checks is an extraordinary power.

Yep. Just a couple more steps than pushing people out of planes over the ocean.

It is more of a way to sidestep the judicial process. The executive branch can act faster than the judicial branch in removing someone from the country before appeals. Once the person is in a foreign country, they are no longer in custody of someone under the control of American judges.

It isn’t a cost saving measure, it is a legal loophole.

I found out a project I worked on won national project of the year by a trade group. A lot of work I did on that project was brought up as reasons for the win.

The most charitable explanation I know is that Trump is shaking down different politically connected groups. He talks with different people and that leads to a shift in policy.

Yeah, I wouldn’t consider this a sign of recession. Instead, it is the confluence of various structural changes in the industry.

1. Because the industry was forced to work in a distributed manner, it has removed the location premium in a lot of salaries. Companies are firing high cost of living areas and hiring in lower cost of living areas.

2. Outside of cost of living, total supply for developers has increased significantly.

3. The return on investment for software development has either dropped or are starting to be included in more decisions. This is leading to development budgets getting slashed.

The incentive for consumer Linux is controlling the app store.

Google leverages its control of the app store to make money on Android. Valve has invested in Linux in order to have an alternate OS in case Windows becomes hostile.

It would be to be per year to match Denmark’s contribution and I don’t believe anyone would trust to pay his debts.

Well, if you don’t need programmers to work in place place at the corporate headquarters, you can hire them anywhere.

Also, apparently some people can’t consciously control the focus distance of their eyes.
