Just the fact that Zorin OS will automatically run Windows executables through wine without the user having to set it up is a huge deal for people coming from Windows who want their PC to “just work” without fiddling around

It’s pretty surprising that an app like Grindr would make use of that option, I think they have a high amount of users that would like to avoid others knowing they use the app.

If Apple hardware can get Asahi Linux, I bet more open devices can get even better distro support.

It has a snapdragon SoC. Arm Windows laptops with Snapdragon SoCs have significantly worse Linux support than Macbooks with Asahi Linux (ignoring the newer M3 and M4 chips that aren’t supported by Asahi yet)

I’m not hating on used hardware for no reason. I’m running an old Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th Gen myself, dual-booting Zorin OS and MacOS.

But it’s no secret that Pixel phones have subpar battery life even when new, and it certainly doesn’t help that Google artificially reduces battery capacity with age
