France’s government had earlier asked prosecutors to investigate Israel’s alleged violent mistreatment of activists from the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla, potentially opening a route for criminal proceedings.
Something happened, the article source from France24 is missing (it was there when I posted).
changed the source to reuters
It will probably lead to nothing substantial
How about doing it for Palestinians too?
Because France has no jurisdiction over Palestinians
There are dual citizens on both sides in that conflict (even though in majority on Israel side). So there is an obligation to investigate as par IHL.
Edit: On a side note, each country which had a boat submitted to piracy in international waters is entitled to respond to it as an act of war.
But Palestinians aren’t as human as (insert local population here)…
wtf? There is no article. It’s literally just a headline.
Blame the fast-publish news model. They’re probably writing the actual article right now.
Possibly, but I’m more blaming OP for using this not-an-article “article” instead of actual sources of information. What sort of discussion were they hoping to have in this thread?
Why did this even get so many upvotes without context? Don’t get me wrong, this is a fantastic development, Israel has been committing war crimes for decades now. But no one cares about the specifics of what is actually occurring?
Seems lazy and thoughtless.
OP has now explained that the original link had an article that then disappeared. I think that answers your questions.
Yup, I saw the edit a bit ago and appreciate OP for updating. Thought about editing my own comment with strikethrough, but decided to stand by what I said at the time. OP is cool folk and I applaud them for the new link but the core problem did need to be address, I just happened to be the first person to say something.
If I saw a picture of a headline saying Israel is having bad weather this weekend, I’d probably upvote it. I didn’t know I could hate a country as much as I currently do but they really try their hardest to make it so.
