I would say Mr bright side is the most vanilla song you could play. It’s like known for being the go-to song for basic people.
It’s kind of about cuckoldry. It’s also kind of a guy complaining about the friend zone. But I mean really it’s just a teenage angst song about confused feelings.
I might be dating myself, but I’ve never known anyone who actually liked the song, besides my nephew for a week. Played it? Yes. It was on the radio for ages, after all. Enjoyed? No.
It broke the record for how long it was on the UK top 100 list. That was in the mid 2000s IDK what the time frame is to have it be the popular song during weddings but that’s why it gets played. I think also as a dj it’s a guaranteed hit for the same reason even if it’s not the bride or grooms absolute favorite song.
