How many good cops does it take to change a lightbulb?

I don’t know, but let me know as soon as a good cop changes anything. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I once saw a woman driving with a thin blue line flag and my only thought was “I wonder what kind of concealer she uses to hide her bruises”

My ex husband got the cops to kick me out of my house. We’d lived in the same home for more than 7 years, my name was on many of the bills - hell, his family told me my name was on the house.

He wanted to move in a new partner, he did some things, and then called the police. I don’t know what he told them - it’s been two years and both the police and the sheriffs department have denied responding; I can’t get a report. They showed up, told me I could either be institutionalized or go to jail. I managed to have some family come and get me, but I don’t understand how it happened. I don’t understand how the police could refuse to provide a report, I don’t understand how you can kick someone out, refuse to file for divorce and drain their bank account. I don’t understand how if you wait to file until after you cut off the insurance, you don’t have to pay it anymore.

I don’t understand why my couples counselor watched him say “I don’t want someone who prioritizes their career over our relationship” to guilt me into quitting my job, so they I would be completely helpless when he wanted to move his prostitute in.

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”

      Another good one:

If your boss demands loyalty, give him integrity. If he demands integrity, give him loyalty.

    Acab.

I used to live in Baltimore and one of my neighbor’s was a cop, and the insane shit he would tell me would make you crap your pants. The shit he got away with, including pictures, would make you insane.

Even if cops were just a totally random selection of people from the general population, the fact that there is effectively little-to-no oversight, both in terms of law/institutions and in terms of social shame, means that anyone who isn’t a bastard before going in is extremely likely to become one, even absent all those other factors like cops becoming more insular and separated from the civilian population (“thin blue line”), the militarization of police (though no need for discipline, apparently), and sickened internal department policing cultures.

And cops are generally picked from a pool even less suitable than a totally random selection from the general population.

Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I knew a state patrolman that was only punished for rape due to using his work car to transport the victim. They were not punished for the rape.

      My answer is “both”.

My poor attempt at blurring the meaning of the word to imply the abuse is everywhere, home and in the nation.
