It’s always disappointing to see how much people on here hate people with mental disabilities. Under no circumstances would anyone be OK with comparing Donald Trump to another minority. I think even insulting him by calling him fat is perceived as too gauche. But ableism? 100% OK by most of Lemmy.
Friend, I’m sorry you read my comment as being an attack or an attempt to lure you out. It’s miscommunications like this that make me want to clarify things, which is why I asked instead of assuming. Another misunderstanding: By “throwing the election”, I didn’t mean being solely responsible for the electoral loss. What I mean by that is if you removed the tankie factor from the election, it could have gone the other way. Elections are won and lost on very fine margins. There may be 100 other things that had a similar impact which you could also say threw the election; none of them are solely responsible for it.
If you aren’t saying that they influenced the election to a degree that might have flipped it, then what is it we are “finding out” from their “fucking around”? And, do you consider having read many comments on lemmy as sufficient evidence to think that might be the case?
100%, republicans are way worse than democrats. To be clear I’m not an accelerationist, I find it repugnant.
Am I correctly interpreting this to mean you think tankies threw the US presidential election? If so, do you have evidence that this is the case?

Al Franken is accused of more than just posing for a crass joke picture:
In the days that followed, seven additional women came forward with allegations of inappropriate behavior during photo ops. Lindsay Menz accused Franken of touching her clothed “upper” buttocks while they posed for a photo at the Minnesota State Fair in 2010. Two anonymous women made similar complaints related to events during political events. Franken apologized, saying, “I’ve met tens of thousands of people and taken thousands of photographs, often in crowded and chaotic situations. I’m a warm person; I hug people. I’ve learned from recent stories that in some of those encounters, I crossed a line for some women—and I know that any number is too many.” Another anonymous woman said that after she was a guest on Franken’s radio show in 2006, Franken leaned in toward her face during a handshake and gave her “a wet, open-mouthed kiss” on the cheek when she turned her face aside. The same day, Stephanie Kemplin, an army veteran, told CNN that Franken held the side of her breast for 5 to 10 seconds “and never moved his hand” while posing for a photograph with her during a 2003 USO tour in Iraq.

Oh, I forgot that Truman, the only person in history to actually use nuclear weapons, famously only did so because he had depression. Or he was a perfectly mentally well person who was also a racist to the extent that he didn’t care about the lives of Japanese children. One of those. I always get it confused.
Anyway, the answer to who I would loan a gun to and who should be capable of launching a nuclear strike is the same: no one. But I would trust your averaged depressed person with the nuclear codes more than I would Trump. To be clear: if Trump has a mental illness, that is not the thing that is wrong with him. What’s wrong with him is that he’s a fascist.
