Will we be skibidi 67 ohio’ing in 2036?
“Cool.”
I think eventually, people will forget what “lol” originally meant and it will be a word to express mild amusement
That’s already true…
I hardly ever use “lol” to mean laugh out loud. It’s also just interspersed in sentences to denote when something is not really serious lol.
Side note: If you SAY “lol”, either the words, the initials or pronouncing it as a word itself, you’ll be judged.
LOL!
“le sang”
It just sounds too good
Cool
“Cool” is eternally cool.
67 might still get ironic reactions like millennials do for 69.
I don’t think Cool is even slang anymore. It’s just a descriptive word
69 is older than that and it’s still here
I do like the joke of being able to do cross generational references with “68 ± 1”.
This is my guess too. I personally knew of some examples dating back to the 70s using it, but apparently ‘coolness’ as a term has been around since at least the 15th century.
Cool as a slang term in modern usage dates back to the late 1920s. It’s been a sustained century of constant usage
That’s so cool.
This is easy. All you have to do is hang out with black people. What they’re saying now is what white people will adopt in 10 years. Black people will be forced to adopt new slang, and the cycle continues.
Black people are not biological poets. It’s just that they live in the position to easily see mainstream culture for what it really is because it’s not for them. They also understand white culture through media immersion.
Black people have an advantage over culture and language because they must be bilingual to get by.
Sounds neat, but this is an utterly trash take.
You can attribute certain phrases sure, like cap/no cap being from African American centric culture, but were black groups saying 6-7 or skibbidi toilet 15 years ago?
Hell, the slang, “shipping” came from a nerd website about X-Files.
There are no more groups that culturally evolve in a vacuum.
And then you low key disparage black culture by saying mainstream culture is not for them? And that they drive it because they are not in it!? I’m starting to think you don’t actually even understand what culture is.
This is such a juvenile and shallow understanding.
“FUCK OFF” is timeless.
I bet people will still be saying “streets ahead”
Well it IS verbal wildfire.
Hadn’t heard that one yet. How’s it used?
If you haven’t heard of it you’re streets behind, buddy.
(Check out the show Community.)
Nah, if I have to watch TV to learn the lingo, I’ll go ahead and fall behind on that one.
One of the characters deemed annoying by his friends tries to get slang over that just doesn’t work. Fans of the show have adopted it lovingly. It’s like joking about trying to make “fetch” happen, if you’ve seen Mean Girls.
“Based” is so Fetch. It’s not embarrassing cringe at all.
I hope yeet never dies.
I will not let yeet die
I just hope crashed out goes back to meaning going to sleep after an all-nighter.
I could see “rizz” having some staying power. Longer than Ohio and skibidi anyway.
That makes sense Rizz is a off shoot of charisma
Are skibidi and Ohio’ing even a thing now?
With under 10 yo, yes. Not sure about ohioing though.
They existed?
Never heard of ohio’ing
Sup, you wanna Oklahom’ with me… baby?
modern slang is just black slang from a decade ago, recycle and repeat
I don’t think that is true of Ohio or skibbidi actually. Though insano style slang are different
there’s a comedian who did a recent bit about how white slang used to be cool: instead of “skrrt skrrt”, white people used to say “let’s skedaddle”
i miss those days
68±1
Insane o style will live forever
