A tornado spawned essentially on top of my house in June and applied enough torque to fuck up my foundation. One corner of my house is coming off now. I’m fighting my homeowners insurance to cover it and I have a foundation expert coming out tomorrow to give me estimates for the costs of repairs. My cousin from ohio knows all about real estate, so he gave me and my mom so many tips for how to get the insurance to cover it. I requested a new adjuster for a second opinion yesterday and one should be contacting me next week.
This whole thing has me freaking out and more severe storms have rolled through and made it worse. The whole right side of my house has shifted on top of the one corner coming off. Found more cracks in the wall of the finished basement today. We had a crazy storm yesterday, which probably cause the cracks.
Closest I’ve had is weather that starts on one block but suddenly is completely different on another. What I mean is you’ll get rain on one block and then it almost magically won’t continue next block over despite basically having those same exact rain clouds.
Perfect example: a couple blocks away from me a few days ago it started suddenly pouring rain like Noah was building his ark. Went a couple blocks away and there isn’t a single drop to be found anywhere.
Although, there is another weird thing I am not 100% sure I hallucinated weather wise. My neck of the woods doesn’t get any sort of tornadoes, twisters, whatever. But one day in 8th grade, during some cheesy “you’re moving onto high school” type celebration, we were all out in a large field where all the festivities were set up. I swear some tiny, insignificant tornado or something spawned because I swear I remember blades of grass and some inflatable ball being picked up and moved around. Again, I’m not sure if that was a hallucination
Dust devil maybe? I’ve seen those several times, never strong enough to damage anything.
I don’t know if this counts but I found a courtyard between buildings on Manhattan where there was always a swirl of wind at a specific spot from prevailing winds being funneled between buildings. A bunch of time I went back there I’d see a swirl of leaves and trash like a mini-tornado, always in the same spot
Maybe that’s what it could have been. Forgot those things even existed, so yeah.
I experienced a dust devil as a kid in Texas once. We were climbing a tree in the neighbors’ yard and one came down the street and blew right past us. I thought it was extremely fun at the time. It wasn’t particularly strong, but we did have to close our eyes when it got too close.
