The people demand meta glasses! And AI! And pedophiles! And transphobia! And dying of easily preventable diseases! And the people want to shit their pants until they die!

The people want these things we promise!

It’s like when a republicans book makes it to a top sellers list, it’s really just them buying thousands of copies to make it look like it’s going well.

Exactly one year ago, EssilorLuxottica told its investors that the Ray-Ban Meta glasses had sold 2 million units so far, a period spanning from the launch in October 2023 until February 2025.

Now, during its Q4 2025 earnings report, the company announced that it sold 7 million units of Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses in 2025 alone – meaning more than triple that of 2024. This suggests that around 9 million have been sold to date since the launch of Ray-Ban Meta two and a half years ago.

“Explodes” might be a bit of hyperbole, but sales have been increasing, and are projected to continue. This doesn’t mean it will happen of course, and the numbers are in dollars, not in units sold, so inflation is at play here.

That chart is not about “AI smart glasses” (the ones with cameras and such), but about actual glass that has some “smart” functionality inside. Such as dimming or going opaque on command. So kinda relevant to this discussion.

For a while I thought something like a life recording would be awesome … Using your own cameras and devices at home and away and leveraging public devices to mesh together a record of everything really. Think of the possibilities, you have an argument and insist you did or did not say something…look it up! If you are accused of something like robbing a bank - no problem, my feed and gps and video evidence says otherwise. And when you are an old coot you can go back and watch the sex you had with whomever whenever isn’t a negative . Then I realized the storage needs and someone would monetize it so only the wealthy could get a full backup and you got tier 32 ( birthdays and blowjobs maybe ) … Now years later I realize without our permission they are doing exactly that, only fuck it all because we can build more storage and the intent has changed. It’s not to sell you a service. In fact it is much worse.

I don’t have the background to tell if 7-9 million is big numbers in the global sunglasses market.

It is starting to feel like Meta is actively catering to the contrarian douche market, like the idiots who bought Cybertrucks. This also increases the likelihood of creep shots because there is bound to be a lot of overlap there.

They’re supplying a demand for profit. Without strong laws to stop them, they’ll keep doing it. Such is capitalism.

I think one of the best ways to fight them is to continue to stigmatize the pervert glasses. Call out and socially isolate anyone in your circle who wears them, or even mentions being curious about them, all excuses aside.

There is an old saying “Never hit someone wearing glasses”.

But these days, “If someone is wearing Meta glasses, punch them directly between the eyes”

I suppose we should never underestimate young males’ propensity to perv on women and girls. Nor should we underestimate the tech bros’ willingness to provide the hardware to do it.

Remember, billionaires have zero empathy, especially for we poors, and really not even for their own kids. They’ll stop for two reasons only, if the pervert glasses stop selling, and/or they’re forced to by laws with real teeth. Small “cost of doing business” fines won’t do it, we all know.

Young males? We have ample proofs that the pervs men subset covers the whole range of ages from teens to old creeps.

I don’t even want pervert glasses. I barely even take pictures with my phone.

What I really want is that projection from those O.G. Google glass that projected image straight in your eye. Then I could watch porn all day every day everywhere.

not even that unthinkable, at least for basic machine vision (4k recording are probably not going to work). Powered by induction and using low power electronics might be able to get there; although if you arent fine with implanting induction coils in your cheekbones or under your eyebrows with attached energy storage implanted it might be a bit invasive. At that point it would be preferable to develop Cybereyes - a biointerface connecting your eye nerves using a biochip paired with a camera; the space that’s left in the eyesocket is probably big enough for enough energy storage for a day. Don’t forget to charge overnight tho, you might go temporarily blind.

9 million people (7 million sold just in 2025) are spying and recording others…

And they expect even more next year… Meta is going for 20 million production for 2026… Maybe 30 million if trends keep…

I hold back the urge to punch one of my superiors at work when ever I speak to them lately because I realize they wear these.
