I do not understand the mathematics behind the dilemma. I’m assuming only the firts chicks cost money, because down the line they will breed.
But feeding them, housing them - vitamins and doctoring costs a lot of money.

So anyone with couple or more chickens - how much does it cost to have them on the table? And realistically how many eggs do you get?

    Loss leaders. They sell you the chicken at or below cost but make sure is at the end of the store so you spend $500 on crap you did not think you needed.

      Yes, they are - bot how much does it take to grow them?
      According to comments they can be 10c for a chick, 18 chickens can be fed by $30, and theze are only 4 week - one month old chickens. That makes it about $3-4 to grow, then you kill, clean, ship and cook it and then put it in a fancy package that cost about c20 of not more…
