    Colbert Report was a pointed jab, and obvious satire. King of the Hill almost had a loving admiration in it, without the implied harsh critique or judgement that satire normally holds.

      I definitely agree with this. It had more of a self-mocking feel to it, like any redneck would find it funny-relatable far more than they would find it satirically critical.

      King of the Hill is a show that understands Texas culture in a way that really requires you to spend time in Texas to understand. It’s the little details.

      And spending time in the Dallas Area, specifically, it’s eerie. The culture, the architecture, the personalities. It’s amazing satire.
