Nobody ever talked to me about Sonic lore as a kid, so I never had a word for it. I was too busy playing Cyborg Justice and wishing I was good at it. That game pulled me in with the cool vibes then dashed me to bits with bad controls.

The medium of a link aggregator platform creates a dynamic where commenters receive an incentive to be the most punchy, the fastest, the most trenchant, the wittiest, the sharpest, the most meta, the most ironic. So people naturally overreach. They try to ring that bell extra hard, from a place that isn’t genuine. They end up seeming unfunny, mean, glib, or reactive, rather than genuinely witty or interesting.

Personal answer: wisdom tells us not to blame victims, so we know aggression says more about the aggressor. They might just be at a low level of personal development due to situational factors, or more profound deficits such as a personality disorder.

Private equity having a normal one

Unfortunately, stocks tend to move in sympathy with each other due to various factors, such as large ETFs and algorithmic trading. Natural price action is kind of broken at the moment.

I went from US to UK. It was the easiest way out, as a dual citizen by birth. Still hard, with a baby and a wife in tow, neither UK citizens, during a pandemic. My job did a lot of legwork for me, incorporated a subsidiary in the UK for me to work here remotely.

Our families have only been American for roughly one generation so far (bar one or two grandparents), I’m just taking us back to one of our home countries, belatedly. Philippines seemed like a non-starter, as did Croatia. The UK has a lot of the same problems as the US, but at a different scale.

The craziest part was that until we emigrated, we’d never even been to the UK. But we had a certainty several years ago that America was going where we couldn’t follow. I wish I could have travelled more, growing up.

I’d say it was worth it. I just wish I had more cards in my hand to choose from, or that the UK was still in the EU. Whole world’s a mess these days though, just playing the hand I’ve been dealt.

Instant Pot. I like it, but the original company went bankrupt and is now owned by private equity, and the new management tried to sell MAGA themed stuff. Suffice to say, I can’t vouch for the company after that. Maybe if you could find an older model second-hand? Or just don’t get an air fryer, most of them are rubbish.

Almost. My instant pot crisp has a stainless pot, and you can get stainless steel baskets to use instead of the teflon one it comes with. The only teflon bit left is the fan guard plate. It’s as mitigated as I could get it.

Good to know. The Instant Pot has weirdly intense heating tendencies, you can’t really finesse it much

My pressure cooker always makes rice too gluey. I’ve tried different timings and measures, nothing works. Though I do have a really decent sushi rice process for the pressure cooker.

I didn’t get a rice cooker for years after my zojirushi mysteriously broke and I couldn’t get it repaired. Didn’t want anything teflon. Finally got a tatung. Really happy.

I’m just glad Oderus never found out how I live

They always do

I left my home country, but I’ve been fortunate enough to get friends to visit a few times over the years. Would be nice to make some new friends but my kid honestly runs out my social battery all on his own.

Are you mad that people got mad? Anger is not a subtle political instrument, a win is a win.

I like this better. I’m not sure if it’s 100% true - hard to know what a thought actually is, when you get super specific - but I like that it’s kinder.

Well I’m an only child, so it’s not just conceptually repulsive, it’s distracting and unrelatable.

I know, I’m being spoiled. Just one more thing I didn’t have to share with a sibling eh?
