“I would rather have questions that can’t be answered than answers that can’t be questioned.” – Rich Feynman
I’d recommend https://privatebin.info/, https://toptal.com/developers/hastebin, or https://rentry.co/. All are open source and awesome replacement options. PrivateBin is a software package you download, while the other two are webapps.
Graphenes PDF Viewer is a good option.
OSS Weather has decent radar for rain and solid stats in the home screen too. There’s three different sources for weather data you can select, so I’d bet one will be better than the others for radar mapping.
Maybe Orson’s scientific notebook (https://orsn.io/) could work. For basic spreadsheets it’s cryptpad.fr or bust in my book
I don’t think this has been rolled out yet unfortunately. Systray-x or KDocker will make it happen until it’s native though.
QKSMS has been great over the past year and change I’ve used it. Simple, clean and customizable. Simple SMS Messenger is another solid option as well.
Mull (Firefox privacy fork for mobile) allows an external download manager to be used, would this work?
Some Sony and Canon camera’s save in .hif as it’s better quality than JPEG while requiring less space. It can also be used for a sequence of images, audio, & video. So makes sense Shotwell added .hif functionality as it’s quite versatile.
I have yet to install it, but from what I’ve heard they literally remade it, so I’d say its safe to assume it’s an option if not on by default.
I primarily use a private option for my primary email. But I have a couple which are gmail and I use Thunderbird for them. You can setup Thunderbird so it provides at least some privacy with gmail, which is better than nothing for me
It’s worth it, I’ll only leave if it stops functioning which there’s zero sign of happening as this is pretty much it’s rebirth!
I already have my setup block all non essential cookies, but having FF handle it for anyone not using a similar setup seems like a great move to me
I agree! Especially since most sites view no response as accepting cookies.
Proton Calendar works well for this, only thing is you’ll need their unlimited 2 year package for ~$200. Comes with 10 VPN connections, upgraded simplelogin account, shared calendar, 500GB of enceyed cloud storage and many email perks.
Especially since eveyone & their moms now uses a VPN, setting up an encrypted & no log DNS connection is vital for privacy!
If you’re looking for an open sourced Picasa option, digiKam is great. Faststone Image Viewer is supposed to be fantastic as well but its proprietary, still free though
Its all about your threat model and the security/privacy level you want to achieve. If you don’t want cell tower triangulation to give away your location, this is a great free option. But VPN’s only alter the IP address given to websites, even with a WiFi only setup if you don’t disable WiFi scanning, that’ll give your location away too.
Edit: grammatical misfire
When VLC uses thethe graphics processor, this accelerates decoding of video streams. So it can use the graphics card to make smoother video. Inline assembly also ties back into speed as inline assembly will make things run more efficiently as well.
TTS Util is worth giving a shot
I’ve been really liking the KISS Launcher, it’s power is in it’s simplicity. It also looks relatively comparable with Smart Launcher. What’s super impressive about the KISS Launcher is that 93% of users that try it for a week are still active users after 3 years! So definitely worth a gander for sure.
