  • Being critical (full breadth of the word, it is not necessarily a negative thing) of your own country is a big part of what makes a patriot.

The right misunderstands this concept, and I believe it’s because their ideology largely consists of grievances they’ve been led to believe are due to the faults of everyone else, particularly those they deem lower on the ladder than themselves.

The left does not offer critique as a slight, to confuse others in an attempt to offend, and certainly does not place blame for the problems of everyone else on everyday people but instead on where it comes from, and that is those that hold the power. This is not smug, this is not evasion, this is not easy pickings. This is seeing the problem for what it is and understanding that it affects us all. This is knowing we can and absolutely need to do better, and knowing that the chance to do so is fading as we sit here numb, dumb, and blind to it.

  • The worst of this is that it’s the fucking same powerful people that have been and continue to fuck up the country and the world at large. Same fuckers that took government bailouts in 2008, took billions in PPP loans in 2020, and now are speedrunning Temu Fascism and spreading it across the globe.

Millennials were never actually given power; sure there are a few token members but because we never took power we get to watch these fucks pull up the ladder while we busy ourselves cleaning up their shit.

  • Sometimes I wonder if this is what he’s doing already. It’s like he’s speedrunning through the worst ideas and his worst impulses and yet I fear the worst is yet to come. It will take generations of steady and firm leadership, real leadership, to unfuck the damage he’s done. He is a clear and present danger to the world, and the longer we continue to play this game of existential chicken the more we show our asses in complacency that turns to complicity with each day that passes.

  • Same here. And it used to cripple me during meetings, and basic conversations with coworkers. I’ve worked in sales, construction, and inventory management and the sports convos were inescapable and apparently a huge key to relating to customers and colleagues.

Just could never get into it, and not the type to fake it either. Unless I’m playing the sport, I could give a fuck less about others who I do not and will not ever know playing a sport.
