I read the post, and it sounds like what the author did in the end. I just don’t get why it was the last thing he tried. I don’t get why Linux software packaging has to be so complex.

Because you need a fuckton of energy to produce an EMP capable of damaging anything. Unless you have access to military grade warheads or a low yield nuclear device, you can forget about it.

I don’t know of any diesel electric cars, but most diesel locomotives use their diesel engines to generate electricity to run the drivetrain.
