“Humans are just imperfect crabs.” - @pH3ra@CubitOom@lemmy.ml
Trying to be the best crab I can.

Or is it just rich people things? Have a tea party and all your kids are on reach others wills?
let’s be honest we’re just wondering if she pimped her own kids to the freak

and his family EXPELLED from the country.
I mean, I prefer rotting in prison for the adults.

That’s cute.
I studied military history and military science in university and was in the military, both active duty and national guard.
You’re a fantastic example of the gap between ‘thinks they know what they’re talking about’ and ‘has actually humped a ruck, shot a ma deuce, moved an armor division, and provided comms for entire operations’.
I wish there was some way to impart this, but am sick of retyping: the next civil war will not resemble the past civil war, it’s an entirely new and different equation with completely different variables.
Just the distribution of forces alone. But also the makeup of the military. And the command and control capabilities.
they had telegraphs. that’s as fast as information could move. trust me when I tell you times have changed.
or don’t. gonna block you now so I don’t have to endure any more of your sillyness

cool cool cool, you seem to have it all figured out and aren’t going to listen to anyone else anyway so good luck with that

your expectations that the next civil war will somehow match up to the previous one is so strange. what in the actual fuck do you think, there’s no slave states anymore, who’s gonna take control of federal army units and assets?
a century and a half has passed - none of those places are the same as 1860, few of the populations are the same as 1860, and the country spans the continent now and beyond.

America will split in half
the problem is we can’t - there’s blue bits in red seas and red bits in blue chunks. it’s ideological not geographic.
I don’t disagree with the need, I just can’t see the how.
Tool libraries rock! Have volunteered with our local one for years.
Also book libraries often can use volunteer assistance!

the ones that weren’t smart enough to bolt for the door when they had the chance

this is a fascinating question I don’t have time to delve deeper into atm but a little googling:
“Calvin increasingly conceived of a state where the rulers were limited in order to ensure protection of religion.”
“Calvin argued for moderation in business ethics. Lending and profit-making should be permitted only insofar as they were useful, never simply to build personal wealth.”
but Calvin himself is entwined with capitalism
https://daily.jstor.org/john-calvin-religious-reformer-influenced-capitalism/
“Calvin’s theological beliefs, based upon his study of the Bible, captured adherents from around the Christian world as Geneva became a center of Protestant thought. He became known as a proponent of predestination, the belief that God’s rewards for humans have already been selected. It was later frequently invoked by wealthy Christians to justify their opulence as part of God’s plan that should not be disturbed by revolutions or high taxes. But Bouwsma argues that is a misinterpretation of what is a subtle theological doctrine about God’s mercy for believers.”
I suspect this is more capitalists embracing calvinism because the think it fits their desires but like most of religion, it’s people using a higher power to justify their wealth lol.

suspect it’s not in spite of their faith, but… in recognition of their humanity and lack of hypocrisy when it comes to humans.
unlike other places where they’ll decry prostitution then rape the alterboys.

and nobody EVER asks for the piano recital of Wonderwall!
jerks

yup. I’m greasy by the end of the day and never feel clean without washing my hair with shampoo.

Harder to maintain if it is underground.
? fewer calls for cables cut by trees / stupid people, known junction boxes in the ground placed at regular intervals to access it (not having to guess which set of poles are carrying for which residences etc), if it’s cut you’re still going to have to replace the line, that’s gonna happen whether they’re 20’ up or 3’ down… less working at height which is a great boon to safety.
I’d ask lineworkers tbh, I can see lots of advantages for underground but cost may override everything else. and physics, some places are never gonna work for it - wet lowlands, bedrock etc…

physics. cost.
lived a lot of places, some of which (like here in PNW) have neighborhood buried cables. It’s lovely, and hella reliable. We don’t lose power in windstorms or floods or snow.
It is expensive. And not appropriate for all places - for example, places with high water tables won’t be able to do it, like Louisiana - you can’t keep the water out year round even with a billion pumps. Also hard to do in places with bedrock near the surface for expense reasons.

I went through this process in 2012-2016 - took out the gas dryer, gas stove and replaced them with electric. Mostly because my wife’s family has a history of asthma and the data for gas appliances and asthma is disconcerting to say the least. Especially for kids.
Good luck with your eventual transition!

oh great, now ICE can spread the plague too.
guess we might finally see their masks come off, considering past messaging?

fucking microsoft too. they’re enshittifying things so much because they can charge you rent to compute instead

ty!
Have a colleague who’s convinced the zionists are in control of everything (including trump), this should drive him nuts. TY!
