Most of the hobbyist 3D printer market is not people who think that building 3D printers is fun and their primary hobby, it’s people who bought them to print other stuff for them.

Pedophiles aren’t being blocked from finding kids on Roblox because they don’t have an OS confirmation that the person checked a box saying they’re roughly a child, and legitimate companies can already do this through the numerous existing ways of determining user demographics.

Targeted advertising is not a problem that is solved by OS level security, it can only be solved through legislation targeting the actual harmful practice. A user spending any amount of time online will always leak enough data to figure out roughly who they are, especially with AI tooling that can do pattern recognition orders of magnitude more effectively than anything that came before.

OS level account setting is by far the simplest and least intrusive method of having some kind of age verification. Parents setup their kids account then the OS transmits the signal to the server. No IDs, no government involvement, no databases.

I agree with almost all those choices but I never finished any of those series so didn’t put them on.

Severance is the only one on there I disagree with. They may stick the landing, but imho I highly suspect they’ve fully jumped the shark and are in the “oh fuck, we didn’t actually plan for it to go on this long” part of a mystery box. In Ontario McDicks feels like it has a similar number of locations, but Wendy’s and BK seem few and far between. Wendys is still coasting down from all those combination Wendys / Tim Hortons, and BK I just basically do not see at all.

Lol the McDicks app is not great. You literally can’t order ahead of time. It makes you go to the location before you can use the app, basically making it a glorified touchscreen machine rather than something that can save you time.

Also, the prices are not that cheap, at least here. They’re comparable to every other fast food chain, including the ones that are substantially better.

I’ve heard that about in and out as well, a little trick to make customers feel a bit more special, same deal with five guys dumping all the extra fries in the bag… They’re fully charging you for them, but it still feels special.

And yeah, originally A&W Canada got sold off to some big conglomerate in the 70s (like Unilever of something), then eventually in the 90s when the conglomerate decided they didn’t want them, a group of franchisees banded together and bought A&W Canada from them… So it’s been separate from the American version for over 50 years at this point.
