it’s exceedingly unrealistic that 500 Zohrans will get elected anywhere in this country

It’s not at all though, that was my point. NYC mayor is by far the most nationally-visible mayoral office in the country. And there are like 50,000 towns and cities in the US. A socialist or progressive / social democratic mayor in 1 out of every 100 is a realistic and quite reasonable goal. Actually, framing it this way sounds to me like a good way to get people motivated.

Most of those 300+ million people had absolutely nothing to do with Zohran becoming mayor. He is the result of a concerted effort from a few hundred local activists over a period of several years, with a large snowballing spike in participation toward the very end. Someone like Zohran, custom-tailored to their district, can happen almost anywhere in the US so long as the local progressives can collaborate and stay focused. NYC just so happens to be a city of nearly 9 million but remember, a mayor is still a hyper local office, local offices are the easiest seats to flip when you’ve got an affinity group with a targeted agenda. We can definitely have 500 mayors like him and most US citizens don’t have to have a thing to do with it.

  • You know, I actually don’t think hypocrisy is sin, or even a moral failing. We all do it, and it’s almost always symptomatic or indicative of other deeds we feel guilty of. It’s always better to not be a hypocrite because it’s a more honest assessment of what is happening and why, but in both of those examples there were very real moral injuries or sins to address before the hypocrisy that obscures them. I think we confuse the “gotcha” nature of calling out hypocrisy with the actual sin we are deobfuscating by calling it out.

The kompromat is irrelevant, Israel is an arm of US hegemony and continues to do exactly what the US wants, the only reason they’re considered a separate nation is culpability. They are not out of our control, they are literally us doing the same thing our country has done since inception: Genocide. If a US president wanted to unilaterally cut ties with Israel I’m sure the CIA would have much better blackmail prepared against them than Mossad could dream of.

  • Yet ironically they seem to still be more organized than our intact leadership. If a foreign nation simultaneously assassinated the 40 most important leaders in the US we would be immediately plunged into multiple civil wars and would be pretty much done forever. Iran has existed in one form or another for thousands of years and will most likely do so for thousands more. This probably isn’t even the worst military fate it’s had to endure.

There’s probably no conspiracy theory in play, but I do think it’s funny that the first WHCD he attends as president because he hates the event and doesn’t understand it ends as soon as it starts because of a gunman. Creating a gunman distraction to avoid getting roasted by the press is not beyond Trump but also who out there doesn’t want to see him dead at this point? It’s just that I’m not sure which answer Occam’s Razor falls at this point because false flag and honest attempt seem about equal likelihood!
