In some good news on this note, the UK Home Office said yesterday that they’re finally going to stop sending the police after people who make legal, but otherwise offensive social media posts.

When I saw the headline yesterday, I thought it was someone’s idea of an April Fools joke. It’s about time though, because it was getting out of hand.

It’s so sad. I feel like we need to be hoarding all sorts of random media that was put out pre-AI, because it’s flooding everything. Videos, music, gaming, historical photos/videos…

Random example: I have a folder of desktop wallpapers that I’ve been casually adding to for the last decade or so. Literally thousands of them by this point, but I haven’t added anything recently because every source is inundated with AI generations now.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium otters are my favorite.

There are a lot of long nature videos on youtube meant for this purpose - some with relaxing music, some without. I’ll occasionally play one on a TV when I know I’m going to be bouncing around the house all day, and it’s nice.

I don’t know of any actual livestreams like that, but some zoos have livestreams of their aquariums or exhibits that are cool too.

Yeah, the conspiracy-prone side of the internet has a lot of overlap between people who believe stuff about “the Jews” and also constantly talk about elite pedo rings (e.g. Pizzagate). They’ve really latched on to the Epstein case because it’s the closest thing to a smoking gun for the latter.

These people are very angry at the Trump administration right now, so it makes sense to assume that’s the profile of the hacker.

I’m not a judge, but isn’t internet essentially a utility these days? Cutting someone off because of piracy seems like cutting off electricity or water because they did something illegal with it.
