  • If I sell you a 2025 Ferrari then give you a 2011 Honda Civic, I broke the law and you got scammed.

Even if I take the unexpected step of sending you a civic-to-Ferrari conversion kit after the fact that makes the car I delivered somewhat comparable to the one I advertised, that doesn’t excuse the initial deception.

What they did was deliberate and dishonest - it’s awesome that they’ve taken (a shit ton of) steps since to make it right, but it’ll never be right.

Holding them accountable is not psychotic.

  • I was one of the fucking idiots that preordered No Man’s Sky. The devs have done a lot to make up for it, so I don’t really regret it anymore as it’s a decent game now, but at release it was so drastically bare-bones compared to what they advertised that if the legal system actually gave a shit about consumer protection, the staff of Hello Games would have served jail time.

But Sean was a charismatic little con artist, and he cut right past my defense. bUt ThiS gUy’S diFfeReNt!! Bruh I fuckin knew better than that!

  • Sup, ICE. You’ve done such a good job emulating your rolemodel from the 1930s/40s with the mustache, I think you’ve all earned a fast-track in that career!! Just skip right to the end and go ahead and feed yourself that bullet! Remember not to aim perpendicular to your throat - that’ll just punch a potentially nonfatal hole: instead aim it up toward your brain!

You are a traitor not just to your country, but to all of humanity: your legacy will only ever be that of a villainous cautionary tale.

Best of luck with the go kill yourself! 💖

  • Depends on what we mean by smart. Lemmy seems to especially attract the IT crowd, which in itself represents a huge swathe of specialty knowledge… which I can’t claim to be part of, but hey, medic checking in! But with reddit’s variety of topics to include… I mean, pretty much everything, since that website is massive: I don’t think they have any kind of knowledge deficit in a general sense.

Where Lemmy really shines is in stamping out the bigotry, not just in policy but from a direct community response: drop a post with some racism or sexism or w/e and you’ll be swarmed by posts telling you to fuck off and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out. And I love it! :D

So, smarter? Fuck if I know. Significantly less evil? Fuck yeah!

  • Dermabond might be a little different… once it’s applied, it interacts with the air to produce a thermal reaction and kind of cooks itself into place. The pain is mostly from the heat - if you’ve ever hit an open wound against a heating element of some kind, it’s basically that. It’s also not a good temporary option - if it was prepped correctly it should kind of infuse into the skin - if hospital staff needed to do something there, they’d basically need to grind your skin off.

I’m guessing the product everyone else is talking about is a bit more forgiving.

  • Surgical tech here - we use a similar in surgery sometimes called “Dermabond” (it’s basically super glue for skin).

It can be good for closing a clean incision, like if you get sliced with a razor and the skin edges almost seal themselves on their own.

Jagged lacerations or open abrasions, or a flap like the previous poster described are NOT good candidates for that type of product, especially if you’re awake when it’s applied, cuz that stuff hurts like a motherfucker when it’s drying.

Other than pain, if it dries when the skin isn’t perfectly aligned, it can make scaring worse; and unless you irrigate the fuck out of it with some kind of antimicrobial solution, that’s a lot of surface area to harbor a pathogen that leads to an infection. And you do not want to fuck around with things like necrotizing fasciitis (image search that if you want some nightmare fuel).
