Avocado toast is one of the many things disingenuous conservative media has used to blame millennials for the economic situation we grew up in. “They wouldn’t be in such poor financial situation if they stopped paying $15 for avocado toast at brunch every day”
That being said… avocado toast rocks and that is an opinion shared by all of my friends of my age lol. Personally I like mine with a fried egg and hot sauce
You count up in incremental numbers until you reach 5280 and then finally increment from 0 to 1 miles. That’s base 5280. Just because we didnt invent more symbols to easily represent that does not mean its not a different numeric base.
Did you read the words I wrote? It looks like youre responding to a “imperial units are better than metric” strawman which you may notice I didnt say or even allude to
This comment brought to you by a complete and fundamental misunderstanding of what it means to use a different base numeral
Imagine being so close minded and bad at math that you can only think in base 10 and feel the constant need to degrade people who are good at math in different bases
I grew up near a Thai Buddhist temple in the panhandle of Florida, and it was about the same. They did a charity cookout type thing every weekend, which was open to the public and they did a bunch of cultural and religious ceremonies right next to or right there in the little marketplace they set up for the cookout. It was a great way to kill a few hours on a sunday; $5 or $6 for a plate of pad thai and a skewer of thai bbq pork, see some cool ceremonies, sometimes end up talking with somebody from the temple for a bit. Absolutely blew my mind that a religious gathering could be so actively enjoyable after I grew up going to mass

It’s hard while traveling, but eating even remotely healthy will make your experience a lot better. One of those fruit and veggie trays you can get from grocery stores plus like a loaf of bread and a thing of hummus can make a great dinner on the road for a family, I try to do something like that at least twice a week when im traveling. Panda express is a surprisingly decent place to get fairly plain rice chicken and broccoli, which is great for both nervous stomachs and people trying to maintain any kind of fitness on the road. Last I’d say careful not to give yourself kidney stones with energy drinks if youre doing a lot of long haul drives between stops

They should be. Russia would have never set a toe in Ukraine if they kept the nukes, and the fuckery of Russia invading and the ‘civilized world’ sitting around with thumbs up their asses since 2014 seems like proof that having nuclear weapons is a prerequisite to maintaining sovereignty

TLDR: modeling traffic as a gas leads to fairly accurate predictions. If that doesnt mean anything to you, here’s a decent visualization of how gasses move around in a system. In this analogy, each of the gas particles models a car on the road. https://youtu.be/Hr5Baj3lXFA

If this thing is emitting light that appears blue to you, you’re about to have a monumentally bad time
“I don’t remember if thats classified or not”
“Holy shit im arguing with toddlers why am I like this? There’s no way this is worth my time”
“Am i actually accomplishing anything by pissing in this persons cornflakes about a topic that doesnt really matter just because im right?”
Common reasons I self censor. Half the time im amused by and enjoy engaging with the faceless void of people and chatbots that make up the anonymous internet, half the time im just overwhelmingly exhausted with it

California is strictly better than every red state in almost every measure. They literally hate it because it directly disproves their worldview that conservatives are good for the economy.

Blud sequestering themselves from men is literally the stated goal of that kind of community. So… yeah? If people want to be sequestered that does involve sequestering themselves somewhere. Maybe if you feel like those kind of places are hard to find you should engage in some praxis and spread the word about them rather than crying at me because I feel othered by a “no men allowed” sign planted in a public forum. Wanting a safe space is valid. Trying to force people you dont like out of an open space to create that safe space is not valid.

I dont have a ton of respect for people making or enforcing exclusionary spaces on public message boards like that. If they really wanted a separate safe space they’d have something like beehaw with moderated sign-ups and a closed door policy to people who dont go through the verification. I dont care about it enough to argue and I go with a “block and let live” strategy regarding those kind of places, but im also not about to spend time or energy policing myself beyond the aforementioned “on topic, dont be a dick” because a bunch of people intentionally chose the wrong hosting tool for an exclusionary community so they can (in my opinion) performatively other people they dont like in a public space.

If I’m making a post I make sure it’s relevant to the community I’m posting to, but just commenting on posts that show up in my feed I dont bother most of the time. Most message board rules boil down to “stay roughly on topic and dont be a dick to the other people here” anyway; you probably dont need to know most message board rules if youre adhering to that.
I used to be that guy. Then I realized asking eachother questions is just part of the human experience. I know we can both google it, but maybe you just wanted to talk to me instead of a computer. Maybe ill ask you something I already know or could easily google so you can feel smart and helpful answering my question. Life is nicer when you have positive interactions with people instead of searching for every minute way you could belittle them
