The problem with AI is that you can’t just make it ignore specific information very easily. You literally would have to hardcore blocks into it. Sure. You can do that to an extent. Sexual topics for example. It’s pretty simple to have it avoid stuff like that. Because it is very general.
But, take any right wing talking point. It usually requires the listener to be ignorant of an important piece of information. It’s often times not explicitly racist. They rely often on preconceived bias from a listener that grew up being taught them.
For example. A racist talking point I’ve heard is “Did you know that Native Americans have a significantly higher rate of rape crimes than any other demographic? It’s like 50x higher than any other race in America!”
This is a talking point that is lying with statistics. It’s using federal crime statistics. Which are “true” on their face (I don’t remember the exact numbers but they don’t matter). Except it’s completely ignoring that crimes like rape on native reservations are one of the only cases I’m which rape would be a federal crime. It’s literally just ignoring that the rest of the population doesn’t actually have a “federal” rape crime. It’s a crime handled by the state in most every case. It’s just people using federal statistics in a vacuum and lying about what they are talking about.
Just using this example. Because an AI would be very unlikely to avoid clarifying the source of this information without specifically being programmed to avoid it. You COULD program the AI to lie in a specific way. But you’re just playing wack-a-mole on different right wing talking points. You can’t generalize “don’t talk about X” when you’re literally trying to get the AI to talk about X but ignore or lie about specific things.
This doesn’t mean AI finds the truth. Far from it. But it is very very bad at being purposely malicious without being extremely blunt. As we’ve seen before with Mecha Hitler and the white genocide garbage.
Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, and Night Gallery needs to make a comeback.
